Our lives can get messy. But fortunately, God loves using messy people. Author Mike Howerton tells Dennis Rainey how his life began to change after he told the Lord in earnest that he’d like to be His. Although the clouds didn’t part and he didn’t hear God audibly, He knew that God had a plan for his life and that God would use him. Mike talks about hearing God speak, and shares a story about a time when a unknown woman called him in the middle of the night asking for prayer for her comatose husband. Mike’s obedience would add another soul to God’s heavenly ranks.
Winsome. Loving. Motivational. Uplifting. Fun. Jesus-Centered. Mike is able to offer unconditional love and relentless grace in his writings, because he has experienced them in his own faith journey.
Mike Howerton loves wrestling on the floor with his kids, reading Tolkien, surfing, and traveling to Italy (this mostly in his mind while listening to Van Morrison). He's been working for God for over 20 years, much of that time focused on the under-24 demographic. Mike develops Ministry Resources, enjoys writing and loves watching God move in this generation. He served at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Ca. for six years as College Pastor, where he spent his time loving on people who are far hipper than he is.
Currently he is serving as the Lead Pastor of Overlake Christian Church, an amazing mega-church in a largely unchurched region of the world, where they joyfully focus on three purposes: Love God. Love Pepole. Serve the World. He lives on the Eastside of Seattle with ultra-cool wife Jodie, angel-sweet daughter Alex, roaring-bear-cub son Caleb, and dance-party-king Duzi.
Mike is a graduate of Pepperdine University, and nabbed his Masters from Fuller Theological Seminary, facts people consistently refuse to care about.
